Inflamed atheroma can be solved at ATODA Medical

An atheroma is a skin cyst that forms due to the blockage of a skin sebaceous gland and overproduction of sebum. An atheroma can reach a size of several centimeters. As it grows, a skin lump is formed, often with a small opening at the top.

It is ideal to immediately consult with a dermatologist upon finding it. Complications associated with an atheroma include the risk of infection, which can result in skin redness and pus formation. A skin atheroma in this state is known as an abscessed atheroma.

Skin cysts occur in various places

Atheroma is a skin abnormality that can cause discomfort and aesthetic concerns for patients. This formation is created by a blocked sebaceous gland and excessive production of skin sebum, and it most commonly appears on the back, head, and neck.

The treatment of these skin abnormalities often depends on the current condition of the patient. Calm, non-infected cysts or atheromas can be surgically removed under local anesthesia, while in the case of inflammation, it is first necessary to start treating the inflammation, followed by removal at surgery, to prevent the recurrence of the problem.

Whether it is an aesthetic concern or a need for prevention, it is always appropriate to consult the finding with a specialist from ATODA Medical, who will provide you with information and set up an individual treatment plan. If you are not sure whether it is an atheroma, do not hesitate to send a photo to ATODA Medical and come for a consultation. We leave nothing to chance, and in unclear cases, we will map the finding with immediate sonography.

Surgical removal of atheroma (price)

The cost of removing an atheroma depends on several factors, such as location, size, or type of treatment. If we find an atheroma on your body, removal can be done in several ways, as outlined above.

  • Complete removal of atheroma under local anesthesia

If you have a calm and non-inflamed atheroma, treatment can be done by surgical removal (excision) under local anesthesia. This outpatient procedure can be performed for the purpose of preventing complications and aesthetic improvement.

Surgical removal of an atheroma offers patients several positive aspects. Thanks to the use of local anesthesia, the procedure is painless, contributing to the overall comfort of the patient. The short duration of the procedure minimizes discomfort.

Removing the cyst also eliminates the risk of infection and inflammation, which promotes faster healing. Another advantage of this procedure is that the outpatient nature of the procedure allows for a quick return to normal life.

  • Treatment of inflammation

In case you have an inflamed, painful atheroma, the first step must be to treat the inflammation itself. If the atheroma is reddened and oozing pus, it requires intervention. The surgeon will open the lump under local anesthesia and thoroughly clean the inside. Only after the inflammation subsides, it is possible to perform excision of the atheroma with the capsule.

I have been a member of ATODA Medical for about half a year now and in that time I have experienced how not to be under the control of the state medical system, where you wait for months for an examination and still have to beg. At ATODA Medical you pay extra for the service but I don't regret spending a single penny because they treat you like a customer. When it burns you have an appointment within a few days for almost anything and that's what health is all about.  Thank you so much for the great work and care.
