Blood pressure measurement (heart holter): early diagnosis saves life

The heart is one of the most important organs of our body. If it is not working properly, it will affect the whole body. One common problem that can go for a long time without symptoms is high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias). Fortunately, today there are simple and effective methods to detect them early - among the most important ones are measuring your blood pressure with a Holter and taking your heartbeat.

Why go for a check-up?

  • Many cardiovascular diseases are hidden
  • Tests are non-invasive and quick
  • Early diagnosis means a better chance of a full life
  • Prevention is always cheaper and easier than subsequent treatment

Book an appointment for a holter scan and blood pressure measurement today using our online form, email or call us. We will be happy to attend to you.

Holter for the heart: when can a doctor resort to it?

The problem primarily concerns the cardiovascular system - that is, the heart and blood vessels. However, the manifestations can be body-wide (fatigue, shortness of breath, swelling, confusion).

Symptoms of high blood pressure and heart disorders are often subtle or come only at an advanced stage. These include:

  • Headaches, especially in the morning
  • Dizziness, light-headedness
  • Shortness of breath on exertion
  • Heart palpitations or a feeling of skipping a beat
  • Fatigue, drowsiness
  • Feeling of pressure in the chest
  • Twinkling before eyes
  • Swelling of the lower limbs

If you observe any of these symptoms, don't wait for anything and make an appointment to see a doctor. Early detection of problems can prevent serious complications such as heart attack or stroke.

Care at our clinic: pressure holter 24H (ECG heart holter)

Choosing an ATODA healthcare facility means putting your health in the hands of professionals who place emphasis not only on expertise, but also on a human approach. We have modern instrumentation that enables accurate and fast diagnosis - including continuous blood pressure monitoring (the latest blood pressure machine) or pressure monitoring with a holter (24H ECG Holter).

Our team is made up of experienced doctors specialising in cardiology and internal medicine, who have extensive clinical experience and are regularly trained in the latest procedures. We understand that health doesn't wait, so you can make an appointment with us without waiting unnecessarily and undergo an ECG as soon as possible. Holter blood pressure monitoring is available at our clinic almost every day.

We treat each patient individually, with the utmost discretion and respect for their needs. A great advantage is also the possibility to undergo several heart examinations in one day, which saves time and also speeds up the diagnosis and the start of possible treatment. At ATODA you are simply in good hands - quickly, professionally and with attention to your comfort.

Our diagnostics are simple and gentle:

  • Blood pressure measurements - we take several times during the day or 24 hours with an odin monitor (pressure holter).
  • Holter ECG (heart monitoring device) - the patient wears a device for 24 - 48 hours that senses the electrical activity of the heart and detects arrhythmias that may not be picked up with a normal ECG

Triggers and risk factors

The most common triggers of high blood pressure and cardiac arrhythmias include:

  • Stress and psychological strain
  • Lack of exercise
  • Inappropriate diet (high in salt and fat)
  • Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption
  • Obesity
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Chronic diseases (e.g. diabetes, thyroid disorders)

Types of disorders and what can cause an untreated condition

  • Arterial hypertension: it is divided into primary (without a known cause) and secondary (due to another disease). If values are high, untreated high blood pressure can lead to damage to blood vessels, heart, kidneys and brain.
  • Arrhythmias: these can be tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), bradycardia (slow heartbeat) or atrial fibrillation. If treatment for cardiac arrhythmia is not started, there is a risk of heart failure, blood clots, stroke or sudden death.

Therapy and treatment

Treatment depends on the type and severity of the disorder. The basis is:

  • Lifestyle modification (diet, exercise, stress reduction)
  • Regular Holter measurements (pressure and rhythm monitoring)
  • Medication therapy (e.g. beta-blockers, diuretics, antiarrhythmics)
  • In more severe cases, pacemaker or catheter interventions

Caution: self-treatment is dangerous, no table and advice will help you - our cardiologist (Prague) will give you clear treatment instructions.
