Skin Growths, Fibromas: Symptoms and Triggers

Skin fibromas, often also called fibromyomatosis, are benign (non-cancerous) tumors. These formations can appear anywhere on the body. Common occurrences include:

Fibroma in the breast and under the breasts,
Fibroma in the armpit,
Fibromas on the eyelids,
Fibroma in the hair,
Fibroma on the genitals, in the groin,
On the neck, etc.

Typical symptoms are pink or brown coloring, but this usually soft formation can also have the color of the surrounding skin. A characteristic feature of these skin growths is also their stalked shape, which can vary in size, but usually does not exceed the size of a pea. Many people do not notice them because they do not cause pain or other discomfort. However, sometimes they can be disturbing aesthetically or they may start to grow over time.

The exact causes of skin fibromas are not entirely clear, but certain factors, such as genetics, hormonal changes, obesity, or friction from clothing, may play a role in their development.

Skin Fibroma: Fibroma Removal

How to remove fibromas? Most skin fibromas do not require treatment if they do not cause any problems. However, if they cause unpleasant symptoms, they can be removed by surgical procedure or cauterization.

Even though most skin fibromas are not dangerous, it is important to have them examined by a doctor. There is a small percentage of cases where a fibroma can turn into a malignant tumor. If your formation is painful or growing, then seek medical attention immediately.
