What triggers pain from the cervical spine and pain in the lumbar region?

Spinal pain can be caused by a variety of factors that include:

  • Improper posture: sitting in the wrong position for a long time, for example, when working at a computer.
  • Overloading and physical exertion: lifting heavy loads or excessive physical activity.
  • Degenerative changes: with age, the intervertebral discs wear out, which can lead to pain.
  • Injuries: falls or accidents can damage the structures of the spine.
  • Inflammatory diseases: for example, rheumatic diseases (such as arthritis of the cervical spine), which can affect the joints and spine.

Whether you are suffering from neck muscle pain, low back pain or any other symptoms that appear suddenly or get progressively worse, it is essential to seek medical attention.

Symptoms and manifestations of spinal pain

Spinal pain can occur in different areas of the back and neck and can vary in intensity. The main symptoms include:

  • Pain in the cervical, thoracic or lumbar spine (lumbar spine pain, cervical spine pain).
  • Limiting pain when moving or bending (hip pain from the spine).
  • Spasms and muscle stiffness.
  • High tenderness in the spine.
  • Sometimes radiating pain to the extremities (for example, knee pain from the lumbar spine, elbow pain from the cervical spine, or shoulder pain from the cervical spine).
  • Tingling or loss of sensation in the hands or feet.

If the blocked thoracic spine, cervical spine block or other back pain persists for more than a few days, or is severe and limits daily activities, it is important to seek professional help.

Spinal arthrosis is one of many types of pain

Hip pain from the lumbar spine, chest pain from the back or problems in other locations can have different causes. There are several types of spinal pain, with the most common distinction being:

  • Acute pain: a rapid onset of pain that may be the result of an injury or sudden overuse. This pain usually lasts for several days to weeks.
  • Chronic pain: Pain that persists for more than three months and may be a symptom of long-term problems with the spine, such as arthritis or degenerative changes.
  • Radicular pain: Pain that shoots to the extremities, usually the leg or arm, which may result from pressure on nerves in the spine.

In the case of chronic or radicular pain, it is essential to undergo a thorough examination to determine the exact cause.

Serious consequences of untreated spinal pain

If spinal pain is not addressed in time and professional help is not sought, serious consequences can occur.

  • Permanent nerve damage: If pressure on nerves or nerve roots is not removed, it can lead to permanent motor problems, loss of sensation or even paralysis.
  • Limited mobility: Chronic spinal pain can severely limit mobility and lead to long-term disability.
  • Impaired quality of life: Unpleasant pain and limited mobility can significantly affect daily life, work and leisure activities.

Don't wait to see a doctor! Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent serious problems and improve your quality of life.
