When can our hematology clinic help you?

Hematological diseases can manifest themselves in different ways. Often they can be inconspicuous, but all the more serious. They are not limited to the blood - they often affect the whole body. Manifestations can appear on the skin (bruising, pallor), in the lymph nodes (enlargement), on the mucous membranes (bleeding) or in the general condition (fatigue, fever, shortness of breath). Blood tests often pick up some of the diseases at random.

The most common symptoms include:

  • Unusual fatigue and weakness
  • Frequent bruising or bleeding (e.g. nose, gums)
  • Shortness of breath on exertion
  • Pallor of the skin and mucous membranes
  • Enlarged lymph nodes
  • Recurrent infections
  • Fevers of unclear origin
  • Weight loss without apparent cause
  • Night sweats

If you observe any of these symptoms on yourself, do not hesitate to make an appointment for an examination. Early diagnosis can significantly affect the course and prognosis of the disease.

Why is our clinic and its haematology practice a good choice?

We provide comprehensive care with an emphasis on expert diagnosis, consultation and long-term follow-up. We offer a friendly and individual approach, discretion and modern equipment.

We employ doctors with extensive experience from the leading haematology and haemato-oncology centres in the country.

We provide basic expert commentary on the findings, which will facilitate further diagnostic steps in paediatric patients.

If you are a self-payer or are recommended for the examination by a general practitioner (Prague) or a paediatrician (Prague), please send the following documents in advance:

  • A medical report (e.g. from a GP or other specialist)
  • Recent blood test results (if you have them)
  • Voucher for the examination (e.g. "K" form or electronic request form)

You can send these documents by email or via our online form.

Our hematologist (Prague) will help to find out the true cause of the disease

Hematological diseases can have a variety of causes:

  • Genetic predisposition
  • Chronic inflammation or infection
  • Autoimmune reactions
  • Oncological processes (e.g., leukemia, lymphomas)
  • Iron, vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency
  • Medications, toxins or chemicals
  • Radiation or chemotherapy

It is therefore important not to underestimate even slight abnormalities in the blood count - even a minor finding can be a signal of a more serious problem.

Types of hematological diseases

The most common diseases we deal with in haematology include:

Anemia (anemia)
Leukaemia (cancer of the white blood cells)
Lymphomas (malignant diseases of the lymph nodes)
Blood clotting disorders (e.g. haemophilia, thrombophilic conditions)
Thrombocytopenia (low platelet count)
Polycythemia (increased red blood cell count)
Myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative disorders

Each type of disease has its own specifics - accurate diagnosis is therefore essential for proper treatment.

Haematological blood tests

Our haematology outpatient clinic (Prague) deals with disorders of blood formation, blood elements (red and white blood cells, platelets) and blood tumours.

Hematological blood examination is an essential step to detect disorders of hematopoiesis, anemias, inflammations and more serious diseases such as leukemia or lymphomas. It involves a detailed blood count analysis - that is, an examination of red and white blood cells, platelets, haemoglobin and other parameters that tell whether everything in the body is working as it should.

In case of deviations, more specialized tests and a consultation with a doctor follow. The examination is quick, minimally burdensome and can be the key to an early diagnosis. Don't wait for problems to appear - prevention and early blood checks can reveal even a hidden problem.

What happens if you don't get treatment?

Without treatment, even a seemingly trivial problem (e.g. mild anaemia) can develop into a serious condition. Blood cancers can progress rapidly and can be life-threatening. Untreated clotting disorders can lead to dangerous bleeding or, conversely, life-threatening thromboses.

Don't put off getting tested - even a routine blood test can save a life.

Regular blood tests are the key to early detection of diseases. Thanks to them, it is possible to detect even silent diseases that do not manifest themselves at first. Prevention and early diagnosis are the most effective way to protect your health.
