How high systolic pressure and high diastolic pressure are manifested (symptoms)

High pressure, professionally arterial hypertension, is a chronic disease in which the pressure of blood in the vessels is consistently higher than is safe for a healthy person. Even if you're not in pain, your heart and blood vessels are under constant pressure - literally. And that can have fatal consequences.

Don't wait until it's too late. Come early.

High blood pressure: symptoms

High blood pressure at night and during the day is often referred to as the silent killer because it often produces no obvious symptoms. Symptoms of high blood pressure include:

  • Headache, especially in the morning
  • Dizziness, anxiety
  • Stron heart palpitations at rest or under stress
  • Fatigue
  • Nosebleeds
  • Shortness of breath
  • Blurred vision
  • Nausea

Don't wait for the symptoms of high blood pressure to appear. Fluctuating blood pressure can develop for a long time without symptoms and only become apparent when complications such as a heart attack or stroke occur.

Why treat yourself at ATODA Medical?

Private cardiology at ATODA Medical treats each patient individually. We have experienced doctors, modern equipment and a comprehensive approach to treating hypertension. If you are concerned about high blood pressure, we offer:

  • Fast and expert blood pressure testing
  • Laboratory tests and ECGs for accurate diagnosis (heart holter)
  • Tailored treatment design
  • Lifestyle advice
  • Regular monitoring and care under the supervision of experts who also deal with cardiac arrhythmias and other health problems.

With early diagnosis and effective treatment, you can live a full life without fear of complications.

When high blood pressure manifests itself (symptoms and treatment)

Hypertension involves the vascular system, but its impact affects the entire body:

  • Heart - enlargement, heart failure
  • Brain - risk of stroke
  • Kidneys - progressive kidney failure
  • Eyes - damage to the retina, impaired vision

If a person does not have normal blood pressure and is plagued by hypertension, a number of triggers may be to blame. Causes of high blood pressure include:

  • Prolonged stress
  • Obesity and unhealthy lifestyle
  • Excessive salt consumption
  • Lack of exercise
  • Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Age (the older you are, the higher your risk)

What do blood pressure readings mean?

Blood pressure is measured in SYS/DIA format, i.e. systolic/diastolic pressure (e.g. 120/80 mmHg). Are you wondering what the ideal blood pressure is and what blood pressure value is okay?

  • Systolic pressure refers to the first number: the pressure of the blood in the arteries when the heart is contracting.
  • High diastolic pressure (cause) indicates the second number: the pressure of blood in the arteries when the heart relaxes.

Blood pressure 120/80 - Ideal blood pressure

  • The optimal pressure according to most medical recommendations.
  • Indicates healthy heart and blood vessel function.
  • No need to take medication or special treatment, just maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Blood pressure 120/90 - Borderline diastolic hypertension

  • Systolic pressure is still within normal limits.
  • Diastolic pressure is slightly elevated.
  • This may be an early sign of problems, monitoring and consultation with a doctor to reduce high pressure is recommended.

Blood pressure 130/80 - Elevated blood pressure (called high normal)

  • This value is already above the optimum.
  • According to some international recommendations, it already falls into the category of stage 1 hypertension.
  • In people at risk (e.g. diabetics, smokers), close monitoring and lifestyle modification is recommended.

Blood pressure 140/70 - Isolated systolic hypertension

  • Systolic blood pressure is elevated (already above 140 mmHg).
  • Diastolic pressure, on the other hand, is low or normal.
  • Typically occurs in older people (blood pressure in the 70s) - caused by loss of elasticity of blood vessels.
  • A risky combination because the burden on the heart is high.

Blood pressure 140/80 - Grade 1 hypertension

  • Diagnosed as grade 1 high blood pressure.
  • Requires consultation with a physician, lifestyle changes and often pharmacological treatment.

Blood Pressure 140/90 - Borderline Hypertension / Grade 1 Hypertension

  • A typical entry value that serves as a diagnostic minimum for hypertension.
  • Requires problem solving to reduce high blood pressure, medical monitoring and treatment, especially if the pressure is repeatedly higher.
  • If you have other risk factors (diabetes, obesity, smoking), lowering blood pressure is necessary and the risk of complications increases significantly.

High blood pressure treatment (high blood pressure treatment)

Wondering how to lower high blood pressure?

High blood pressure (hypertension) is a common but dangerous disease. It often has no symptoms, yet it increases the risk of heart attack, stroke or kidney failure. The good news is that it can be treated effectively. The important thing is to start early - ideally right after diagnosis.

If we focus on acute pressure reduction, the main goal of treatment is to lower blood pressure to a safe level and prevent damage to blood vessels, the heart and other organs. For most patients, the target blood pressure is below 140/90 mmHg, and even lower in high-risk groups.

Do not ignore the body's warning signals

Whether you are troubled by high lower blood pressure or, conversely, high systolic pressure, the cause can be anywhere from stress, an unhealthy lifestyle to more serious heart or blood vessel disease. Each type of abnormality has its own risks that cannot be underestimated. If you are looking for what is high blood pressure (the cause), most often it is a combination of genetic predisposition and external factors that affect you over a long period of time.

In any case: untreated high blood pressure damages the heart, brain and kidneys. Do not underestimate even slightly elevated values and do not wait for complications to appear. Early diagnosis and proper treatment are the keys to long-term health. If in doubt, make an appointment for an examination.
